Teeth cleaning is an important aspect in the health care of our
pets. Pets that do not receive proper dental care are prone to
developing gum diseases and eventual loss of teeth. During our
annual health care examintion, if your pet shows signs of gum
disease or tartar development, we recommend teeth cleaning. Since
general anesthesia is involved during pet dentistry, all pets are
screened through blood tests and a complete physical examination.
Pets undergoing dentistry are intubated and maintained on
anesthesia through a gas anesthetic called Isoflurane. An
ultrasonic cleaning devise is used for teeth cleaning and a polish
is applied to the teeth before the completion of the procedure.
We recommend a dental examination and teeth cleaning on all pets
after 5-7 years of age.
